OUR STORY
The congregation moved to the Holy Redeemer Episcopal Church – 3730 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461. We spent a month in that location due to the fact that we could only meet on Sunday from 7:00-8:45 am.
The congregation moved to Iglesia Bautista Central – 200 Swain Blvd, Lake Worth, FL 33463 on February 1999. As a result of continuous growth, relocation became necessary.
On November 1999, Sinai Missionary Baptist Church was officially affiliated to the Florida Baptist Convention/Palm Lake Baptist Network.
Sinai Missionary Baptist Church was able to relocate to Indian Pines Elementary School– 6000 Oak Royal Dr, Lake Worth, FL 33463 on October 2, 2005. While worshiping there for at least three (3) years, the mighty hands of the Lord guided us to another location.
The Articles of Incorporation for Sinai Missionary Baptist Church to the state of Florida has been filed on April 7, 2005.
The Militana Baptist Church that has been ministering to the community since 1962, officially closed its doors on May 12, 2008 and its property was conveyed to the Florida Baptist Convention. Sinai Missionary Baptist submitted a proposal to the FBC for the use of the vacant property of the former Militana Baptist Church.
A lease agreement between the Florida Baptist Convention and Sinai Missionary Baptist Church was signed on August 21, 2008 related to facilities usage located on 4735 Lantana Road, Lake Worth, FL for $3,000 monthly. Later in the afternoon, Pastor Gregoire called for a meeting. Several church members gathered that night with tears of joy praying and praising God for his faithfulness toward SMBC.
On September 7, 2008, the congregation gathered early at the parking lot of Indian Pines Elementary School. After waiting for approximately one hour, members were instructed to get into their cars and turn their headlights on. A line of cars traveling together, slowly and ceremonially left the premises of IPES to the beautiful 5.11+ acres property. We conducted our first worship service in our new address.
A rededication service was held on September 20, 2008. The attendance was so huge that we had to deny people’s access to the Sanctuary and direct them to the Fellowship Hall so they can watch the service on a TV screen installed for the occasion.
On December 1, 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) declared that the United States entered a recession in December 2007. The recession officially lasted from December 2007 to June 2009. It took several years for the economy to recover. During the recession the pastor was fervently praying asking God to allow the congregation to purchase the property during the recession so His name can be glorified.
On March 10, 2010 God, the Almighty answered our prayers. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church had purchased the property for the amount of $800,000.
After years of prayer to plant a church among our Hispanics brothers, Iglesia Bautista Lumbrera was established in January 2015. Pastor Gilberto Torrens was ordained on March 20, 2016 by SMBC to lead the new congregation. Citizens from at least 9 countries of Latino America are represented through this young congregation. Praise the Lord!
After paying around $573,000 for the past 8 years and 9 months, the Lord had used the Florida Baptist Convention through the leadership of Dr. Tommy Green to cancel the remaining balance of the loan on February 14, 2018. Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!
A great thanksgiving service was held on March 11, 2018. About 400+ people attended the service.
In order to fulfill the great commission and to advance God’s Kingdom, the Sinai Missionary Baptist Church has launched a new work in North Port, Florida on April, 2018 – First Tabernacle Baptist Church. Brother Bernard J. Nachbi is the pastor responsible for the new church plant.
The call to serve in South Florida for the kingdom of God has remained steadfast and directed by the Holy Spirit over the past 20 years. Living and proclaiming the gospel through servant hood ministry will continue to be our main focus until the Lord’s return. מרנאתא! Μαραναθα! Maranatha!
